General

Licensing Dos and Dont's

Do:

Use the licensed font for personal and commercial purposes, under the allowances of each license
Purchase an additional license if you require the font for other uses or your usage exceeds your existing license
Get in contact about High Volume Commercial, Broadcast/Streaming or custom licenses.

Do not:

Resell the original fonts (purchasing on behalf of a client is allowed)
Resell any modification of the asset on its own
Make the font public or share the font in any way that allows others to download, extract, or redistribute
Convert font files to other formats
Use the font for purposes outside of your license

Upon purchasing a font you are granted a non-exclusive and non-transferable license to use the TYPEHEIST font(s) in accordance with the following licensing terms and conditions. You may not exceed the scope of the purchased license.

Can I make a backup of the font file?

You can save a backup of the font file, however you cannot make it publicly accessible or available to others.

Can I create a logo from a font?

Yes - under the Desktop license you can create a logo from a font. The only limitation is you cannot use a dingbat to create a logo where the primary image is the dingbat (e.g. a smiley face character from the font).

I need a font for a band - which license is right?

If you are using the font to create and sell assets such as album art or merch, you will need a Desktop License.

If the number of end products exceeds 250,000 units, you will require a Desktop Commercial license.

If the number of end products exceeds 1,000,000 units, please contact for a High Volume Commercial License.

I have a clothing company - which license do I need?

If you are creating and selling products using the font, you will need a Desktop License.

If the number of end products exceeds 250,000 units, you will require a Desktop Commercial license.

Desktop Licenses

When do I need a Commercial license?

The type of Desktop License you will need is based on the amount of ‘instances’ or end products that will use the font.

A Standard Desktop License allows up to 250,000 instances and a Commercial Desktop License covers 250,000-1,000,000 instances. Refer to the item below 'What is an instance / end product?'.

For each license, the number of instances is combined. For example, if you produce 200,000 shirts and 100,000 posters you would need to purchase a Commercial license as the total number of instances is 300,000.

What is an instance / end product?

An 'instance' refers to each individual image, asset, unit or end product that the font appears on. For example, each individual social media post, PDF, book cover, product package, billboard or clothing label is an instance.

Web Licenses

Which Web license do I need?

Web license usage is calculated based on the number of page views per month. Each time a page loads with the embedded font, it counts as a page view.

The total monthly page views should stay within the limit of your purchased license. If your traffic grows beyond the allowed limit, you’ll need to upgrade your license to the next tier.

How do Web licenses work?

A Web license allows you to embed our fonts on your website using @font-face. Once purchased, you’ll receive webfont files (WOFF, WOFF2) to upload to your site. The fonts must be self-hosted and cannot be used in third-party web font services.

The license is based on the number of page views per month and covers use on a single domain. If your traffic exceeds the licensed limit, you’ll need to upgrade your license.

Do I need a separate license for subdomains?

Yes - you will need one webfont license per domain or subdomain. For example dogs.company.com will require a separate license to cats.company.com.
